Description:

Central Asia to northern Africa, Sasanian Empire, ca. 224 to 651 CE. Two fine carnelian intaglios along with an equally fine stamp seal. Each from beautifully toned red-orange stone etched with ancient designs. The seal is semi-circular and incised with an 8-pointed star, and drilled centrally for suspension on some form of cord. The intaglios include a cabochon stone incised with duck or goose (or some other long-necked avian). Each intaglio was created as a stone once set into a ring. The second intaglio is decorated with a standing robed figure holding a staff and wearing a diadem. Size: .565" L (1.4 cm) for largest.

The Sasanian Empire, officially known as Eranshahr was the last Iranian empire before the early Muslim conquests of the 7th–8th centuries AD. Named after the House of Sasan, it endured for over four centuries, from 224 to 651 AD, making it the longest-lived Persian imperial dynasty.
