Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Salinar, ca. 1st century BCE to 2nd century CE. An elegant polychrome terracotta stirrup vessel painted via the negative-resist technique, its near-spherical body presenting an array of triangular and circular motifs in red and white - each one further embellished with black stylized geometric motifs. Above are concentric red and white rings encircling the upper section of the body. Remarkable for its pristine form and mesmerizing decoration. Size: 5.375" in diameter x 8" H (13.7 cm x 20.3 cm)

  • Condition: Intact. Normal surface wear with slight loss to pigmentation here and there but still very nice. Wonderful mineral deposits as well. Old label on underside of base that reads, "Salinar #9".
