Description:

Eastern Europe, Russia, southeastern Magadan Region, Seymchan, ca. 1967 / 2004 CE. A stunning pendant made from a pallasite meteorite fragment set in a sterling silver bezel. Pallasite is primarily composed of iron with nickel (kamacite) and olivine crystals, also known as peridot. Both sides of the slice are polished to a lustrous finish and coated with a clear protective layer. The open bezel design allows light to shine through the matrix, and the pendant is strung on a simple cord with a lobster clasp, easily adaptable to a chain. The Seymchan meteorite, originally found in 1967 near the Yasachnaya River in Russia, was reclassified as a pallasite in 2004 after additional material with olivine crystals was discovered. These finds, comprising both iron-nickel and olivine-rich sections, made Seymchan popular for scientific study, collectors, and jewelry due to its striking appearance. Size of pendant: 1.28" L x 1" W (3.3 cm x 2.5 cm); cord: 21" L (53.3 cm); silver quality: 92%; pendant weight: 8.3 grams
