Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Eastern Europe, North-Central, Russia, Volga region, Volosovo culture, Late Neolithic to early Bronze Age, ca. 4000 BCE. This exceptionally rare and complete unifacial end scraper in golden flint, originating from the Early Volosovo Culture in Russia around 4000 BCE, offers a unique opportunity for collectors to elevate their Neolithic collections! Acquired from a small British-owned private collection discovered in the 1950s, this artifact is unparalleled, with no precedent in museums or private collections. The expertly pressure-flaked tool is knapped with a scraper / cutting edge - perhaps handheld or attached to a handle. The Volosovo Culture, succeeding the Neolithic Pit-marked pottery culture, emerged between the third and fourth millennia BCE and persisted until the second millennium BCE as forest foragers in the Volga-Ural region. This culture's transition from Stone Age / Neolithic practices to early metalworking adds historical depth to this remarkable artifact! Size: 1.5" L x 1.5" W (3.8 cm x 3.8 cm)
