Description:

Egyptian, Romano-Egyptian Period, ca. 30 BCE to 2nd century CE. A gorgeous circular bracelet composed of a central ring of translucent blue trail glass enclosed by two similar bands of spiraled, opaque, black-and-white glass canes. Most of the exterior surfaces boast faint layers of rainbow-hued iridescence, and the interior surfaces display faint traces of red-pink pigmentation. The blue interior would have been laid atop a slanted conical surface to establish the overall form, and then the spiralized canes would have been applied to the top and bottom once the center had solidified enough to maintain its shape. A beautiful example of fashionable glasswork! Size (smallest opening): 2.75" Diameter (7 cm); size (widest edges): 3.375" W (8.6 cm).
