Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. late 1st century BCE to early 1st century CE. A petite terracotta table amphora resembling the classic Dressel Type 4 style. This miniature vessel is comprised of a conical base, a bulbous body with angular shoulders, characteristic bifid handles, and a beaded rim, all in an orange-red color with dense beige-hued deposits. Used for holding wine in the center of a table, amphorae like this example would have been a common sight throughout the Roman Empire. Custom museum-quality display stand included.
