Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A heavy, beautiful silver ring containing an oval dark green jasper intaglio. The intaglio depicts a figure standing before an altar, one hand extended as if about to make an offering. The intaglio is set into a slightly raised bezel with two broad shoulders, each with a thick, incised motif of a two-leafed plant. Size: 1.95" W (5 cm); 9.1 grams; US size 8
