Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, North Africa, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A lovely wheel-thrown redware vessel with a bell-shaped body, cylindrical neck, flared spout with a turned-up lip, and strap handle joining rim to shoulder. A small applied dot of clay on the top of the strap handle is a unique touch. Beautifully proportioned and well preserved. This type of pottery is known as African Terra Sigilata, referring to the method used to seal the red slip onto the pottery during the kilning process. Size: 4.25" W x 7.75" H (10.8 cm x 19.7 cm)
