Description:

Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely pottery oil lamp presenting a recessed tondo with the relief image of a leaping bear over the petite fill hole. The wicked spout features an arrow-shaped head and a thick neck flanked by volutes. Several incised circles frame the bear, while a planta pedis or maker's mark of a stylized "R" is shown at the bottom. Size: 4.3" L x 3.1" W x 1.3" H (10.9 cm x 7.9 cm x 3.3 cm)
