Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A charming redware plate with an earthy red glaze, made in the style known as terra sigilata, with applied decoration spaced widely around the exterior vertical walls, and a stamped planta pedis (maker's mark) in tondo inside a band of arrayed lines. The vessel has short walls and stands on a short, round foot. It was made for use in the home. Size: 6.1" W x 1.75" H (15.5 cm x 4.4 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired crack on one side of rim. This is well done and difficult to see. Small chips, scratches, and nicks from surface commensurate with age. Motifs are nicely preserved.
