Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A mold-formed pottery oil lamp depicting a tall, conical transport amphora within the recessed tondo. The lamp is defined by its squat foot, a hemispherical body with a planar shoulder, a tab handle, a wide wick spout, and a pair of spiraling volutes along the neck channel that flank a petite vent hole. The amphora inside the tondo is surrounded by leafy olive branches that indicate what the vessel would be filled with during transport. Size: 4.1" L x 2.375" W x 1.4" H (10.4 cm x 6 cm x 3.6 cm)
