Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A mold-formed pottery incense burning dish with a tiered square base supported by a quartet of stylized lion feet. A stocky pedestal expands upwards to a square incense dish, and a scalloped rim lines the periphery. Calcified white remains within the basin show that this vessel contained incense when inhumed, perhaps as a funerary offering. Size: 3.25" W x 4.8" H (8.3 cm x 12.2 cm).
