Description:

Roman Empire, Imperial Period, Holy Land, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A heavy terracotta vessel with a large ringed base containing a six-pointed Star of David inside of a seven-pointed star, which is all inside of a second smaller raised ring. Steep and slanted bottom sides lead to a disc-shaped side wall and rounded shoulders, a small tab handle a flat top with seven wick spouts, and raised Hebrew text adorning two concentric circles surrounding a large fill hole. Size: 3.25" W x 1.25" H (8.3 cm x 3.2 cm).

Provenance: private Orange County, California collection, acquired before 2000
