Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 5th century CE. A set of 2 Roman artifacts - a pilgrim flask and a necklace. Each side of the pilgrim flask features an image of a figure on horseback, one with empty hands and the other holding a weapon. The necklace is strung with dozens of hand-carved shell beads in tubular and seed forms, and suspended from a modern gold attachment is a mold-formed glass grape cluster bearing vibrant cobalt blue hues. Size (flask): 1.9" W x 2.6" H (4.8 cm x 6.6 cm); (necklace): 16.25" L (41.3 cm); (grape cluster pendant): 0.41" W x 0.82" H (1 cm x 2.1 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
