Rome, ca. 1st century CE. Brown-slipped pottery lamp with round body, base set off by a groove from the base. Rounded snout with volute, shoulder sloping towards the outside. Two grooves encircle the concave disc in center decorated with a leaping calf. Filling hole in center. Type Loeschcke IV. 3-7/8"L x 2-3/4"W x 3/4"H. Provenance: Ex-private Swiss Collection before 1974; acquired before 1970 from a private Tunisian collection. Copy of Art Loss Certificate will be provided to winning bidder.
