**First Time At Auction**

Roman, North Africa, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A lovely wheel-thrown redware pottery amphoriskos with a concave footed base, a spherical body with a rounded shoulder, a projecting conical neck, and a pair of applied strap handles with low relief decorations of spiraling volutes on one and laurel leaves on the other. The body displays additional low relief adornments including a jumping rabbit on one side and a leaping lion on the other, with palm fronds flanking each animal. Impressed concentric rings encircle the neck base, and faint incised lines wrap around the upper neck. Size: 3.7" W x 5.4" H (9.4 cm x 13.7 cm).
