Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 100 BCE to 100 CE; Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A wearable ring, made from a red gold and inlaid with a hand-carved nicolo intaglio depicting an eagle holding a wreath. The ring band is cast from 35.8% to 38% gold (equivalent to 8K+ to 9K+), with broad shoulders supporting the ovoid setting. The stone has a beveled edge and carefully cut so the black layers below contrast with the white face, highlighting the etched motif. Size of bezel: 0.69" L x 0.57" W (1.8 cm x 1.4 cm); opening: 0.7" Diameter (1.8 cm); US ring size 8; gold quality: 35.8% to 38% (equivalent to 8K+ to 9K+); weight: 4.7 grams

  • Condition: Stone is ancient and ring band is antique / vintage. Small scratch to face, but otherwise intaglio is excellent, and motif is clear. Some minor patina and wear to band. Ring is wearable. The band was probably size adjusted in the past and has a small panel added to the band, professionally done.

For shipments outside of the USA, customs and duties may apply upon entry into said country, and this fee, if any, is the buyer's responsibility.
