Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A beautiful ampulla bottle of a petite form, made from canes of polychrome glass in an aubergine-hued matrix which creates a mosaic-style presentation. The form of vessel is defined by a rounded base, an egg-shaped body with a tapering cylindrical neck, and a thick rim with an in-folded lip. Faint areas of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence nicely complement the vessel's amethyst coloration. Size: 1.625" W x 2.9" H (4.1 cm x 7.4 cm).
