Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A pretty milk agate stone intaglio engraved with a majestic lion holding a sword in one paw and a star above. The lion, a symbol of bravery and courage, stands to the left on a groundline. This milk agate is cut to an ovoid shape, with a flat and polished verso that displays the natural creamy white stone inclusions. This lovely intaglio could be put into a modern setting to create a wearable piece of jewelry! Included is a custom clay impression of the intaglio. Size: 0.5" L x 0.37" W (1.3 cm x 0.9 cm)
