Roman Empire, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. Fine personal house shrine with peaked top, carved in relief with the god Hermes depicted nude holding a caduceus and his bag of coins. He stands next to Athena wearing a Corinthian helmet holding a spear and shield. A dog stands to the left of Hermes. Nice example not often seen! Size: 7.875" H (20 cm)

Provenance: Ex - A. Englander collection, acquired in the 1970's.
