Description:

Rome, ca. 1st - 2nd century CE. A carved marble figure of a foot, likely from a full sized sculpture. Incredibly veristic representation of the arch, muscles, and toes (including the small and purposefully malformed toe). This foot is the idealized form of the foot in Greek Sculpture (also called the Royal Toe or the Morton's Triad) and thus followed through into Roman sculpture. Custom stand. Approximately 5-1/2"L x 3"H. Provenance: Ex-Prominent NYC, NY Gallery. All items in this auction have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids, papered by our parent company, Artemis Gallery Ancient Art. The starting price is the lowest price at which the lot can sell.
