Roman, later Imperial period, reign of Jovian, ca. 363 to 364 CE, Antioch Mint. Obverse: DN IOVIAN-VS PEP AVG, draped bust to right. / SECVRITA-S REI PVPLICAE, Roma and Constantinopolis, between, inscribed shield, VOT V MVL X. Upon the death of Emperor Julian the Apostate, Jovian became emperor. Jovian, being a Christian, reestablished Christianity as the State Church after a brief revival of Paganism brought on by his predecessor. Christianity remained the main religion of the entire Roman Empire, both East and West until it fell to the Turks in 1453. RIC 223, rarity 2. Size: 0.8" W (2 cm); 4.4 grams
