Roman and Ancient Near East, late Imperial through early Islamic periods, ca. 200 to 900 CE. A collection of 44 ancient glass beads on a modern string with a modern gold-filled clasp, creating a unique, stylish necklace. This necklace presents a plethora of different bead types including eye beads, millefiori beads, net-pattern beads, and beads with marvered details. The central pendant is black with white marvered waves throughout, and is held in place by a smaller yellow-hued anchor bead. A fabulous and wearable example of trade beads from the ancient world! Size (necklace): 21.75" L (55.2 cm); size (largest bead): 0.875" W (2.2 cm).

Provenance: private Japanese collection, acquired in the early 1990s
