Description:

Roman era, Holy Land, the Levant, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A fine example of a utilitarian ceramic vessel featuring a sturdy, curved handle and two projecting spouts, one rising from each end of the handle. The rest of the body is globular aside from a flattened base so that it stands nicely on its own. The surface is decorated with incised concentric circles around the upper shoulder. This lovely example would have been used to hold and pour liquid in a home. Size: 10.45" W x 11" H (26.5 cm x 27.9 cm)

Provenance: private J.H. collection, Beaverton, Oregon, USA, acquired in September 2017; ex-Artemis Gallery; ex-private Olan collection, California, USA, acquired in the 1960s to 1970s, thence to family via descent
