**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fascinating bronze pitcher with a bulbous body with a gently carinated shoulder and a tall shoulder that tapers into a narrow neck before flaring out into a rim with a deep lip. An applied bronze handle, attached to the lower body with a leaf-shaped finial, completes the vessel. The surface has a lightly hammered motif, mainly visible on the shoulder. This type of jug is often found in the northern provinces of the Roman Empire, like northern Germany and Britain. Size: 6.95" W x 10.25" H (17.7 cm x 26 cm)
