Description:

Roman Empire, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. This large free-blown pale green translucent glass vessel displays a concave bottom with a smooth pontil, a rounded but stable base, an abstract quadrilateral-shaped body with deep indentations to each side, rounded shoulders that taper upwards to a smooth wide neck, a rolled in-folded rim, and two applied undulating handles featuring volute-shaped details near the top. The sides of the vessel also have a thick band of glass encircling the equatorial region of the body, and faint rainbow iridescence highlights throughout. Size: 3" L x 2.875" W x 4.25" H (7.6 cm x 7.3 cm x 10.8 cm).
