Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A wonderful stone intaglio - likely agate - incised with two figures that face one another and seem to be holding their hands up toward one another, akin to a modern "high-five"! The intaglio, presenting with warm caramel and creamy white hues, is round and placed in a lovely 97.13% gold setting (equivalent to over 23 karat) with a 'beaded' border and an integral suspension loop. Size: .625" L x .5" W (1.6 cm x 1.3 cm); .75" L x .5" W (1.9 cm x 1.3 cm) including suspension loop. Weight: 1.7 grams. Modern cord measures 20" L (50.8 cm). Gold quality: 97.13% gold, equivlent to 23K+.

  • Condition: Normal surface wear to intaglio, commensurate with age. Gold setting also shows expected age wear, but still retains a strong form and nice beaded border. Suspension loop is intact as well.
