Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A beautiful bottle meant for holding perfumes and other scented oils called an unguentarium, free blown from semi-translucent glass of a turquoise hue. The vessel exhibits a concave base, a bell-shaped body that contains solidified remains of its original contents, a gently corseted neck base, a cylindrical neck, and a flared rim with a thick, in-folded lip. The blue-green hue of the vessel is gracefully accentuated by the thick layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence that have formed across the exterior. Size: 2.4" W x 4.5" H (6.1 cm x 11.4 cm)
