Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An opaque, free-blown glass unguentarium of a golden-yellow coloration. The vessel is defined by a round but stable base with a smooth pontil scar, a bulbous body which gradually narrows to a slender neck, and a discoid rim with a miniscule spout. The petite mouth effectively acts like a sprinkler vessel and restricts the amount of sweet-smelling oils and perfumes that can be poured out at one time. Though the exterior is covered in a thin layer of earthen material, some faint areas of rainbow-hued iridescence are still visible. Size: 2.875" W x 4.375" H (7.3 cm x 11.1 cm).
