Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A gorgeous flask of a tall, thin, tubular form made from translucent blue-green glass. The flask is defined by a rounded drop-form base which gradually expands to a wide midsection which then narrows again to a narrow neck and an in-folded rim. The vessel's soft turquoise hues are elegantly enhanced by faint layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence, making this a striking example of fine Roman artistry! Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 1.125" W x 8.2" H (2.9 cm x 20.8 cm); 8.5" H (21.6 cm) on included custom stand.

For a stylistically-similar example, please see "Shining Vessels: Ancient Glass from Greek, Roman and Islamic Times." Fortuna Fine Arts, Ltd., New York, 1991, p. 46, fig. 71.
