Description:

Roman Empire, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. This globular, near-opaque yellow-green glass vessel has a rounded base with a thin incised ring and a smooth pontil, a spherical body with several spiralized ribs running from the base upwards to a pinched neck base, a short tubular neck, a flared rim and an in-folded lip. The mouth opening is much wider than the opening into the body cavity, and fiery citrine, sapphire, emerald, and amethyst iridescence highlights give the surface a wildly technicolor appearance. Size: 3" W x 4.375" H (7.6 cm x 11.1 cm).

A comparable example can be found in "Solid Liquid," Fortuna Fine Arts, Ltd., New York, NY: 1990, page 104, figure 190.
