Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful pitcher that is free blown from semi-translucent glass of a pale turquoise hue. The vessel has a concave base with a smooth pontil scar, a spherical body that tapers to form the cylindrical neck, and a thick, in-folded rim. A wide trail of glass is applied to the shoulder, pulled up, and pinched to form a thumb rest before terminating on the side of the neck. Fiery layers of rainbow-hued iridescence envelop the entire vessel and accentuate its soft blue-green color. Size: 3.7" W x 5.4" H (9.4 cm x 13.7 cm)
