Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to early 4th century CE. A beautiful, free-blown patella bowl formed from semi-translucent, pale blue-green glass with a footed base and smooth pontil scar, gradually-expanding walls, a flared rim with a rolled lip, and a deep basin with a prominent central kick. Brilliant layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence create a fiery color palette and nicely complement the vessel's soft turquoise hues. Size: 4.95" W x 1.7" H (12.6 cm x 4.3 cm).

  • Condition: Minor nicks and abrasions to foot, body, and rim, with micro-bubbling within the glass matrix, and light weathering film, otherwise intact and very good. A smooth pontil scar indicates it was intentionally smoothed or worn away over time. Light earthen deposits and stunning silver and rainbow iridescence throughout.
