Description:

Roman, Eastern Mediterranean, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A stunning free-blown glass oinochoe presenting a near spherical body rising to a tubular neck with a trefoil spout - all upon a concave base with a broken pontil mark in glass of aubergine hues - with a thick trailed handle of contrasting deep green hues joining rim to shoulder. The surface presents areas of stunning rainbow iridescence in golden, rose, aqua, purple, and green hues. What's more, aubergine is one of the rarest and most desirable of all Roman glass colors. Juxtaposed with the rich green hues of the handle, this is a most aesthetically pleasing example! Size: 3.125" W x 4.75" H (7.9 cm x 12.1 cm)
