Description:

Ancient Rome, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A gorgeous blue-green glass vessel with an unusual, quite attractive circular flattened body pattern that is molded with dense diagonal ribbing. In addition to its mesmerizing surface, its form is exceedingly elegant with a near spherical body and a tubular neck that cinches at its base and resolves to a flared rim. While the underside of the base is concave, there is no broken pontil as the piece was mold blown, allowing for that remarkable surface pattern. Age has graced the vessel's entire surface with a silvery and rainbow iridescence that frankly is to die for! Size: 3.5" in diameter at widest x 5.25" H (8.9 cm x 13.3 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private American collection, acquired in 1970s.
