Roman, Imperial Period, 1st to 3rd century CE. A tall and slender glass flask that sits on a slightly rounded concave base and rises up to a long tear-drop shaped body that narrows a the neck and then flares out to the rim. The body has wheel cut rings around the neck, body and near the base. The glass is translucent, highly valued by the Romans for the wonder that transparent yet solid objects had. A graceful example of ancient glassware that has been beautifully preserved. Size: 3.125" W x 8" H (7.9 cm x 20.3 cm)

  • Condition: The body shows several bubbles integral to the glass matrix. The largest bubble burst at the surface when the vessel was made, creating a small depression, but the glass is intact. Surface weathering on the interior. Highly translucent!
