Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous example of a double unguentarium meant for holding two different types of scented oils or kohl makeup, free-blown from translucent glass of a fine green-yellow hue. The slender vessel has a narrow base, a pair of conjoined cylindrical containers surrounded by applied trail decorations, thick rims, and remains of original rigaree handles. Attractive areas of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence have formed across the vessel. Size: 1.9" W x 4.75" H (4.8 cm x 12.1 cm); 5.2" H (13.2 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Chips and losses to some areas of trailing and rigaree details, with some sharp corners in areas of loss. Minor abrasions to body and rims, with light weathering film, and micro-bubbling within glass matrix. Light earthen deposits and nice iridescence throughout.
