Description:

Roman, late Imperial Period, ca. late 3rd to early 5th century CE. A beautiful double unguentarium (makeup-holding vessel) formed from semi-translucent, pale-green glass. The vessel is defined by a narrow base, a pair of fused cylindrical bodies with thick rims, a pair of applied blue-green trails handles, and a tall bale handle arching between the shoulders. Brilliant layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence envelop the exterior and nicely complement the vessel's soft sage hues. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 2.7" W x 5.625" H (6.9 cm x 14.3 cm); 6.4" H (16.3 cm) on included custom stand.

For a stylistically-similar example of a different color, please see "Glasses of Antiquity." Fortuna Fine Arts, Ltd., New York, 2002, fig. 110.
