Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A spectacular piece of free-blown pale blue-green glass featuring a deep concave base with a rough pontil, a wide and low bell-shaped body with a pinched neck base, a very narrow and tall cylindrical neck, and a wide rim with a rolled edge. Silvery and rainbow iridescent patina are on both the interior and exterior surfaces. This design was made to minimize the evaporation of precious liquids like perfumes or oils, and would have played an important role in someone's toilette. Size: 1.6" W x 5.85" H (4.1 cm x 14.9 cm)
