Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A beautiful free-blown, semi-translucent glass bowl of a pale yellow-green hue with a bulb-shaped base and rough pontil scar, rounded walls covered in dozens of applied nubbins, a thin rim, and a deep basin with a slight central kick. The texture of the glass is rough with pitting in some areas; however, brilliant passages of golden iridescence with fiery color have developed in these areas. Scattered pockets of lovely rainbow iridescence also complement the vessel's muted color. A fabulous example, replete with sophisticated technique and wondrous presentation. Size: 4.125" W x 2.625" H (10.5 cm x 6.7 cm).
