Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful free-blown glass jar with a ribbed neck, elongated body, and slightly concave base that displays the pontil mark. This jar is simply stunning; the exterior is encrusted in a heavy rainbow iridescence that shimmers on the surface of this ancient vessel. Glass was highly valued throughout the Roman empire, and a dainty vessel such as this piece may have been used for storing a lady's perfume or scented oil. Size: 1" W x 3" H (2.5 cm x 7.6 cm)
