Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A lovely mold-formed bottle made from translucent, pale blue-green glass with a flat ovoid base, a tall body with smooth walls and rounded sides, a pinched neck base leading to a tapering cylindrical neck, and an in-folded rim. The bottle has a utilitarian form which would likely have held scented oils, though it could have held substances for cooking. The exterior of the vessel boasts fabulous layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence in a palette of bright colors. Size: 2.875" W x 6.8" H (7.3 cm x 17.3 cm).

Provenance: private Davis collection, Houston, Texas, USA, acquired in 2013
