Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An elegant glass beaker with a semi-translucent body and a carinated rim above the base. The body rises upward then flares out at the rim. A heavy layer of mineral deposits has developed on the surface, as well as rainbow iridescence. Glass was prized in the ancient world for its translucent properties, and a drinking glass, such as this, would certainly have been owned by an elite member of society.
