Roman, early to middle Imperial Period, ca. 1st century BCE to 3rd century CE. An ensemble of 5 strands of petite glass beads formed from solid hued globules as well as fragments of millefiori and mosaic glass. Most beads exhibit a lozenge-shaped form with some in spherical, oblong, and rectangular shapes, and between each larger bead is a miniature glass seed-form bead in deep vermilion hues. The vibrant hues of each bead are further accentuated with faint layers of silvery iridescence formed over time. Size (largest strand): 24.5" L (62.2 cm)

  • Condition: Glass beads are ancient, and stringing is modern. Beads can be restrung easily if desired. Minor nicks and abrasions to many beads, with some exhibiting light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Light iridescence throughout.
