Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A beautiful mold-blown amphoriskos of a slender form, comprised of semi-translucent, pale-blue glass with a drop-form base, an ovoid body with an in-curved shoulder, a tapering tubular neck, and a flared rim with an in-folded lip. Several faint striations course around the neck and body, and sumptuous layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence envelop the exterior. Roman ladies would employ stylish vessels like this to contain their precious scented oils and perfumes. Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 1.125" W x 5.375" H (2.9 cm x 13.7 cm); 5.8" H (14.7 cm) on included custom stand.

For a stylistically-similar example made from amber-hued glass, please see The Metropolitan Museum of Art, accession number 74.51.27: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/239612
