Description:

Roman, Imperial, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A beautiful fragment of a gilt bronze suit of armor featuring a relief rendering of a robed woman stepping to her right and holding a long object in one hand while extending the other outwards. A petite child or cherub can been seen to her right as clouds swirl above her. The right periphery is decorated with a dotted border and three annular drill holes are featured at the top and bottom of the piece for attachment to a suit of armor. Gilding quality: 43% gold (equivalent to over 10 karat); Size: 5.625" W x 4" H (14.3 cm x 10.2 cm)

  • Condition: Fragment of a larger piece. Slight warping in areas but form is still clear. Expected surface wear with softening of detail commensurate with age. Otherwise, very nice with liberal remains of gilding and beautiful green patina.
