Description:

Roman Empire, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A copper alloy ring with a finely engraved seven-lamp menorah (six branches plus the central one) flanked by a leafy branch and a makers mark upon its circular face. In addition, there is one triangular raised area on each side between the shank and the top. The menorah was historically used by Moses in the sanctuary he established in the wilderness and later in the famous Temple of Jerusalem. A nine-lamp variation of the menorah (8 candles and the central shammash) is traditionally used for the observance of Chanukah (Hanukah). This is a special piece of ancient Judaica jewelry bearing the likeness of a symbol of Judaism that originated in ancient times which is also the featured emblem on the coat of arms for modern-day Israel. Size (ring): 0.9" W x 0.8" H (2.3 cm x 2 cm); (menorah face): 0.625" L x 0.4" W (1.6 cm x 1 cm); US ring size 8.25
