Description:

Roman Empire, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A copper alloy ring with a finely engraved seven-lamp menorah (six branches plus the central one) flanked by a leafy branch and a makers mark upon its circular face. The menorah was historically used by Moses in the sanctuary he established in the wilderness and later in the famous Temple of Jerusalem. A nine-lamp variation of the menorah (8 candles and the central shammash) is traditionally used for the observance of Chanukah (Hanukah). This is a special piece of ancient Judaica jewelry bearing the likeness of a symbol of Judaism that originated in ancient times which is also the featured emblem on the coat of arms for modern-day Israel. Size (ring): 0.9" W x 0.8" H (2.3 cm x 2 cm); (menorah face): 0.625" L x 0.4" W (1.6 cm x 1 cm); US ring size 8.25
