**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A hand-built clay paver tile fragment that was laid by a member of one Roman legion. A circular floral stamp is shown in the middle of the tile beneath a rectangular stamp that likely reads, "LEGIO V," or Fifth Legion. Below the legion stamp is an impressed canine paw print - formed prior to drying - that even bears the impression of one nail on the innermost digital pad. Size: 7.375" L x 5.5" W (18.7 cm x 14 cm)
