Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A charming doll figurine, hand-carved from cow or oxen bone, depicting a standing female figure. The uniform lower body traces upwards to a plateaued chest, and angled shoulders taper inward to a stocky neck. A bar-shaped nose is centered between two small indentations indicative of eyes, and an incised, centrally-parted coiffure is neatly arranged beneath a simple cap. Two holes drilled into either shoulder were meant to hold articulated arms at one point. Size: 1.375" W x 4.55" H (3.5 cm x 11.6 cm).
